The World Brand Design Society sincerely thanks all students who participated in the WBDS Student Design Awards 2024/25. We also extend our appreciation to educators and institutions worldwide for their invaluable support and dedication to the WBDS Awards. Your commitment plays a vital role in the continued success of our community and awards program.

The WBDS Student Design Awards uphold a rigorous multi-round judging process, and this year is no exception. After extensive evaluation, our Judges and Editors have selected 109 shortlisted and winning projects from hundreds of entries. This year’s awards include 3x Black, 16x Gold, 22x Silver, 40x Bronze, and 28x Commended recognitions.

The WBDS Design Education Institution of the Year is awarded to San Diego City College, United States, for the third consecutive year. Congratulations to the SDCC faculty and students for their outstanding achievements!

San Diego City College, a public community college in San Diego, California, now leads the Global Design Education Ranking, surpassing previous leader HSE Art & Design School. More details can be found here.

The ‘WBDS Design Students of the Year’ goes to Bastian Gasser , Florian Weger , Timo Asch , Johannes Handlechner , Tanja Nicole Gruber , Jan Perné from the design education institution FH Salzburg in Austria.

Best Design Education Ranking of 2024/25

 

Review – Best Design Education Ranking 2024/25

The 2024/25 Best Design Education Ranking highlights a year of impressive growth and new contenders. San Diego City College dominates with 58 points and 25 awards, more than doubling its previous score. The KPU Wilson School of Design (Canada) makes a striking debut at 2nd place with 29 points and 13 awards, while School of Visual Arts (USA) climbs to 3rd with 17 points and 5 awards. FH Salzburg (Austria) and ArtCenter College of Design (USA) secure 4th and 5th place, respectively.

The rankings showcase an expanding global presence, with HSE Art & Design School (Russia), Haute École Albert Jacquard (Belgium), RMIT University Vietnam, Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico) and Lehigh University all earning top 10 positions.

As the WBDS Student Design Awards continue to grow, the Best Design Education Ranking will serve as an annual benchmark for institutions striving to cultivate the next generation of corporate and consumer brand creatives. With increased participation, we look forward to even more competitive Student 2024/25.

Review – Global Design Education Ranking 2024/25

The 2024/25 Global Design Education Ranking reflects significant movement among the world’s top institutions, with major growth, new contenders, and expanding international representation. San Diego City College makes an extraordinary leap to 1st place with 131 points and 62 awards, more than doubling its score from last year. HSE Art & Design School (Russia) follows closely at 2nd place with 114 points and 44 awards, maintaining its strong standing. British Higher School of Art & Design (Russia) holds 3rd place with 43 points and 13 awards, while ArtCenter College of Design (USA) climbs to 4th with 42 points and 21 awards.

Several institutions have strengthened their positions, with University of Hertfordshire (UK) rising to 5th place, followed by The KPU Wilson School of Design (Canada) debuting at 6th with 29 points and 13 awards. School of Visual Arts (USA) and FH Salzburg (Austria) make strong impressions in 8th and 9th place, respectively. Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico) joins the rankings at 14th place, further expanding global participation. Haute École Albert Jacquard (Belgium), RMIT University Vietnam, and Swinburne University of Technology (Australia)also contribute to an increasingly competitive top 20.
